A project led by Amphos 21 for Posiva Oy is utilizing supercomputing to enhance the safety of nuclear waste disposal for up to one million years. The OL-STAR project, based at the ONKALO facility in Olkiluoto, Finland, employs advanced groundwater chemistry modelling and the LUMI supercomputer to simulate subsurface processes impacted by climate shifts and geological changes. This initiative aims to ensure sustainable nuclear power remains a viable low-carbon energy source.
