Svenska Kraftnät Invests Over 20 Billion SEK to Prevent Power Shortages in Stockholm
DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE
Svenska Kraftnät is investing over 20 billion SEK to reduce the risk of power shortages in Stockholm due to increasing electricity demand. The investment will enhance the power grid capacity by approximately 2,300 megawatts, equivalent to the output of two nuclear reactors.
Factors contributing to the rising demand include population growth, increased electrification, and the expansion of data centers and public transport infrastructure. The existing grid is outdated and was designed for much lower energy consumption than current levels.
