Tobyhanna Township supervisors approved a zoning overlay permitting a data center on land currently designated as rural residential. This decision follows the December 11th vote on an ordinance for Pocono Manor and applies to the 520-acre Pennsylvania Glacial Till property on Caughbaugh Road, adjacent to conservation land and wetlands.

The developer will need to comply with various regulatory requirements, including noise limits and a closed-loop water system due to the absence of a public water supply. Residents expressed concerns about the zoning change, fearing it could lead to increased development and negatively impact property values and the area's natural environment. Despite opposition, supporters argue the overlay provides regulatory control, while opponents worry it threatens the community's character.
