Trinidad and Tobago Positioned to Become Regional Hub for Ammonia-Fueled Shipping
AMMONIA
Trinidad and Tobago is poised to become a regional hub for ammonia-fueled shipping following the arrival of the world's first ammonia-powered vessel, the Fortescue Green Pioneer, in Port-of-Spain. With its eleven ammonia plants and significant export capacity, the country is well-positioned to leverage its existing infrastructure in response to the International Maritime Organisation's push for decarbonization in the shipping industry. Industry leaders emphasize the potential for economic growth and the establishment of a new sector centered on low-carbon marine fuels.
