TU Dresden Acquires €9.4 Million AI Supercomputer 'Deneb' with Nvidia ARM Processors
The Technical University of Dresden is acquiring a new AI supercomputer named 'Deneb' for €9.4 million, aimed at enhancing research capabilities in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The system, developed by Bull, will feature 184 Nvidia 'Grace Blackwell' graphics processors and two petabytes of optimized storage for AI applications.
Scheduled to be operational by the end of 2026, Deneb is part of Dresden's strategy to position itself as a national center for high-performance computing. It will also utilize an energy-efficient water cooling system that can heat surrounding buildings and feed into the district heating network. This initiative aligns with efforts from local institutions, including the universities of Dresden and Leipzig and the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf, to advance AI technologies and big data analysis.
