Tucson Electric Power (TEP) has proposed the Santa Rita Connection Project, which will create a new transmission line from a planned Sahuarita substation to the North Alvernon Substation in Tucson to enhance power capacity. The project, aimed at accommodating future load growth, is set to begin its siting process in October 2025, with an application for the Certificate of Environmental Compatibility planned for April. The Arizona Corporation Commission will vote on the transmission line in July, with operations expected to begin by 2029.
