UC3M Launches New Supercomputer Ranked 81st in IO500 for Advanced Research Capabilities
The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) inaugurated its Scientific Computing Center (C3), featuring a supercomputer ranked 81st globally in the IO500. This facility aims to support high-demand R&D projects across various fields, including aeronautics, biology, and health sciences.
It includes over 11,500 CPU cores and 42 NVIDIA A40 GPUs, interconnected via a high-speed network, with nearly 1,000 terabytes of storage capacity. The supercomputer is designed to process large datasets, execute complex simulations, and enhance artificial intelligence capabilities. Funding for the project comes from European NextGenerationEU funds and various national and regional grants, including support for COVID-19 research initiatives.
