UK Designates North Lanarkshire as AI Growth Zone to Enable 500MW Data Center Capacity

The UK government has designated North Lanarkshire as an AI Growth Zone, enabling DataVita to develop 500MW of data center capacity, which is projected to attract £8.2 billion in private investment. The initiative includes a £543 million community fund to support local projects over 15 years and aims to promote renewable energy projects alongside data center growth. This marks the fifth AI Growth Zone established in the UK, following similar initiatives in Wales, Oxfordshire, and Newcastle.
