US Federal Administration Plans to Recruit Private Firms for Cyber Attacks on Foreign Adversaries

QUANTUM COMPUTINGDEFENSEDATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

The US federal administration is preparing to recruit private companies to conduct cyber attacks against foreign adversaries. The granted powers will closely resemble those currently held by government agencies working on behalf of the Department of Defense or the Department of State.

A new cybersecurity strategy is being developed to create regulations based on existing legal frameworks. This strategy aims to enhance data protection, secure sensitive infrastructure including data centers, strengthen encryption, and advance quantum computing initiatives.

Decisions regarding this strategy will require approval from Congress and the House of Representatives, but an agreement appears feasible. Former President Joe Biden aimed to establish a new cybersecurity policy before the end of his term, but this was ultimately not achieved.
