The Van Buren Township Planning Commission voted 5-2 to approve the preliminary site plan for Project Cannoli, a proposed 1-gigawatt data center. The project, developed by Panattoni Development, will occupy 282 acres and is projected to become the largest taxpayer in the township.
Despite community pushback, including concerns about environmental impacts and transparency, the development aims to address growing cloud computing demands. The final site plan will require approval from the township board.
