SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL
Washington State University has launched the Cascadia Sustainable Aviation Accelerator (CSAA) to promote the production and adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), backed by $20 million in funding. The initiative aims to reduce aviation's carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel and includes partnerships with various stakeholders. A dedicated research center will be established at Paine Field Airport, while SkyNRG plans to build a facility in Walla Walla to produce 50 million gallons of SAF annually by 2030.
