X-energy Signs Agreement with Doosan Enerbility for Xe-100 Reactor Components
X-energy has signed a reservation agreement with South Korea's Doosan Enerbility for key components of its Xe-100 small modular reactor. The agreement, finalized in Washington DC on December 11, allows X-energy to secure mid to large-sized forgings essential for manufacturing the reactor's main components.
Follow-up agreements for commencing production are anticipated. The Xe-100 reactor, which delivers a thermal output of 200 MW, is set to be deployed at Dow's Seadrift site in Texas, with plans for additional SMRs in partnership with Amazon and Energy Northwest.
Doosan Enerbility has previously engaged with X-energy on engineering services and made equity investments to enhance their collaboration. A strategic agreement involving multiple partners aims to accelerate the deployment of nuclear energy to address rising power demands by 2039.
