Yeti Refrigeration Ltd. Awarded $2.4 Million Contract for Ice Plant Upgrades in Nelson and Creston
The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) has awarded a $2.4 million contract to Yeti Refrigeration Ltd. for ammonia refrigeration upgrades at the Nelson and District Community Complex (NDCC) and Creston and District Community Complex (CDCC). The upgrades aim to reduce energy consumption and mitigate costly repairs by replacing outdated equipment with new plate and frame chillers.
Yeti Refrigeration submitted the lowest compliant bid and demonstrated technical expertise through references from similar projects in B.C. The RDCK previously hired Polar Engineering to review the ice plants and create design specifications for the upgrades, which were partially funded by FortisBC's incentive program. The project is scheduled to commence at the end of the current ice season, around late March or early April, and will be completed before the next ice season in mid-August.
